Gov. Tony Evers is doing the right thing for La Crosse County and all of Wisconsin. Under his leadership, 89 La Crosse County small businesses have opened their doors or expanded and La Crosse County businesses have received an additional 2,635 grants to help pay bills, stock shelves, hire employees, and more. He has also followed through on his promise to expand high-speed internet access by investing $35,676 in La Crosse County projects alone, extending internet access to approximately 59 residential locations and approximately 8 businesses. Across Wisconsin, Gov. Evers continues to deliver results. 86% of Wisconsinites have received a 15% income tax cut or more, unemployment is at historic lows, and our schools are ranked among the top 10 in the nation. Gov. Evers has brought Republicans and Democrats together to do the right thing for communities and families in La Crosse County, and he’s just getting started.
Gov. Evers delivers for La Crosse County
After residents in the La Crosse area, including on French Island, worked to respond to PFAS contamination, Gov. Evers visited French Island to announce the CLEAR Act, which includes several provisions to combat PFAS concerns and ensure every Wisconsinite has access to safe, clean drinking water, including creating local grant programs for PFAS testing and remediation, establishing and enforcing environmental standards for PFAS, and funding positions at the Department of Natural Resources to implement a PFAS action plan.
Gov. Evers visited the La Crosse County Administrative Center in April 2021 to discuss his proposed 2021-23 biennial budget’s investments in the Treatment Alternatives and Diversion (TAD) Program, which provides meaningful support to justice-involved individuals struggling with substance use. The governor’s proposal would have brought TAD funding to the highest level ever with an additional $15 million over the biennium.
