Press Releases ICYMI: Obama Highlights Gov. Tony Evers’ Common Sense Leadership, Calls Out Tim Michels’ Radical Agenda

MILWAUKEE, Wis. — In case you missed it, former President Barack Obama rallied Wisconsin voters to get out the vote for Gov. Tony Evers in Milwaukee yesterday. Obama touted Gov. Evers’ strong record of getting things done for Wisconsinites and slammed Tim Michels for his radical, backward agenda.

“As long as Tony Evers is governor, he’ll keep doing whatever it takes to make sure that women have power to make their own health care decisions. He’s got more of a Clark Kent vibe than a Superman vibe, but Tony is tough. He is single-handedly keeping Republicans from driving the car off the road,” Obama said of Gov. Evers and his record of vetoing extreme Republican-backed bills. “He might be democracy’s best hope in Wisconsin.”

“If someone is openly obsessed with changing the last election, he probably should not be in charge with overseeing this one coming up,” Obama said of Michels’ plan to dismantle the Wisconsin Elections Commission and his comments saying he’d consider decertifying the 2020 election.

The former president also emphasized the dangers of Michels’ radical anti-abortion stance and his refusal to invest in Wisconsin’s public schools. Meanwhile, Gov. Evers reiterated his plan to “continue to create opportunities by investing more for special education, mental health, and smaller class sizes.”
