Students at Merrill Elementary School in Beloit had a special visitor on Friday: Gov. Tony Evers.
The governor visited students to see how they’re getting acclimated to the new school year. Classes in the School District of Beloit began on Thursday.
During the visit, Evers touted how the district has used the federal funding it has received.
“Beloit itself is getting approximately $300,000 in the mental health arena, but it’s about over a million dollars that they’re getting that they can use for the next four years actually to help them recover from this pandemic,” he said.
The governor also took part in an education roundtable in Kenosha Friday afternoon.
