Press Releases Gov. Evers Urges Wisconsinites to Contact Their Legislators on Reproductive Healthcare

MADISON, Wis. — With the Wisconsin State Legislature preparing to convene in special session next Wednesday, Governor Tony Evers is urging Wisconsinites to contact their legislators and express support for repealing the state’s 173-year old abortion ban.

“I’ve said all along I will never stop fighting to defend reproductive healthcare and safe, legal access to abortion as long as I’m governor,” said Gov. Evers. “I’m asking Wisconsinites in every corner of our state to join us by making your voices heard.”

Last week, Gov. Evers called a special session of the legislature to take up legislation to repeal Wisconsin’s 1849 abortion ban, which has sat dormant for the past 50 years, but could go back into effect if the U.S. Supreme Court overturns Roe v. Wade. 61% of Wisconsinites support safe and legal abortion access.

Wisconsinites can visit maps.legis.wisconsin.gov to find their legislators’ contact info and call, email, and write to demand they vote to protect reproductive healthcare. Wisconsinites can also reach their legislators by calling the Legislative Hotline at 608-266-9960 or toll-free at 1-800-362-9472.
